Porsche 917s Are Tiny: Part 3

Usually when something is this small and cuddly we call it “cute”, but I’ll refrain from calling the mighty Porsche 917 cute.

Yes, I do want to cuddle a 917. No, I’m not ashamed of that. Previously. Also this.

Cuddlle, huh? Especially the runt of the litter – the 917/30?

I hate to disagree, but having just seen the Simeone Collection 917 in person, it’s an EXTREMELY long, wide car! Sure, it’s low as hell, but I wouldn’t call it small! 😉

when I first saw it in person, I though: “wow, I expected it much bigger…” then a friend wo was with me told me just the same. lol

the car is stunning, much more than in pictures. Low, wide and small.

I ran across your site through alink on the Historic Classic Porsche Facebook site. I’ve got a lot of reading ahead.

I first saw the 917’s when my father took the family to Nurburgring in 1973 for the Interseries race. George Follmer having won the CanAm title the prior year was a featured driver – I still have the poster from that race.

My memories of that car are like that of the tree in front of your house when you were a kid – you go back as an adult and it sure seemed larger back then.

Thanks for a great series on the 917.
