More on the Hans Herrmann 1959 German GP Crash

For a 51 year-old event, you wouldn’t think that I’d continue to stumble on information and imagery of Hans Herrmann’s dramatic crash at the end of the south straight of AVUS in the 1959 German GP. But, as we saw last week, and last year, there’s always something new to find in the world of vintage motorsport.

That corner worker is pretty agile too, eh?

    WoW… gives me an appreciation for the rationale of the day that it was better to be flung clear of a crashing automobile than attached to it. Without a real roll-over hoop, if Hans had been strapped in I don’t think he would have made it.
